Responsibility to the environment and our vision of sustainability
Responsibility towards our stakeholders and business sustainability are paramount values and starting point of our activities at Arapuru. We respect the environment, value the local economy and seek to positively impact the society in which we operate.
We are a startup always searching for best decisions to daily challenges. As people, and consequently, as a company, we aspire to constantly grow and evolve. We evaluate our value chain to understand the main impacts, recognising that improvements can be made constantly.
Our production process:
• The water used in our production process comes all from the farm of our producer Sérgio.
• We use certified reforestation wood to heat our boiler and pot still.
• The remnants of the distillation botanists are dried, crushed and used as fertilizer on the farm.
• We distribute the juice from the fruits used in the recipe as well as the cashew nuts
• 75% of our production team are women.
Our purchasing process and the materials we use:
• We buy a large part of our ingredients from small producers to help to developt the artisanal community in São Paulo.
• We buy recyclable materials for our packaging and transportation.
• In 2019, we started using recyclable paper in the production of our labels. Previously we used BOPP plastic.
• Our plan is, by 2025, to use 100% of materials in our operation from recycled sources.

Our part of operation, logistics and distribution:
2019 we launched a partnership with the “Eu Reciclo” certificate. We pay for each bottle sold to a collective recycling system, so that we can dispose of a mass of waste equivalent to the mass of bottles we put on the market in an environmentally correct manner.
In 2020 we launched a reverse logistics programme. We collect our bottles from key customers in São Paulo to be professionally cleaned and later reused. Our goal is to offer this service to other artisanal producers to expand the impact.
We chose to work with small autonomous logistics operators to transport our product from the factory to our nest in São Paulo.
